As MAPA SAS remains deeply committed to sustainability, it was an obvious choice to turn once again to EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, for the assessment of its CSR performance.

In 2023, MAPA SAS raised its overall score from 66/100 to 70/100 and was awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal.

This new score ranks MAPA SAS in the top 3% among the 623 companies audited by EcoVadis in the manufacturing of rubber sector. Reaching this gold medal was even more challenging as the score required to reach gold level is more stringent each year, highlighting the headways accomplished by all companies.

The objective of the EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) rating methodology is to measure the quality of a company’s CSR management system through its policies, actions, and results. The assessment considers a range of CSR issues, which are grouped into four themes:

  • Environment, considering both operational factors (e.g., energy consumption, waste management) and product stewardship (e.g., product end-of-life, customer health and safety issues).
  • Labor & Human Rights, considering both internal human resources (e.g., health and safety, working conditions, career management) and human rights issues (e.g., discrimination and/or harassment, child or forced labor).
  • Ethics, focusing primarily on corruption and bribery issues, and considering anticompetitive practices and responsible information management.
  • Sustainable Procurement, focusing on both social and environmental issues within the company supply chain.

More precisely, MAPA SAS has achieved an individual score of 70 on each of the themes mentioned above:

Numerous policies and KPIs have enabled attentive management of environmental issues relating to Mapa SAS’s businesses and the implementation of an eco-design initiative. 60% of its factories have been ISO 14001 certified (environmental management) including 100% of Mapa Professional factories.

The company boasts a clear employee health and safety policy and 50% of its factories have been ISO 45001 certified (management of health and safety at work), including 100% of Mapa Professional factories. Procedures to prevent child or forced labor are in place in our Mapa Professional factories.

All employees have signed the employee code of conduct which states our Ethics policy. Audits, trainings, and alert measures have been implemented to fight against corruption, or bribery and protect data security.

As well as annually auditing business suppliers in risk areas, Mapa SAS requires all suppliers to sign up to a strict code of conduct from a social and environmental perspective. In this performance area, Mapa SAS forms part of the top 2% of companies assessed by EcoVadis in their industry.

The gold rating further reinforces MAPA SAS’s strong level of commitment to keep driving sustainable change with the mobilization of all the stakeholders.
